THE ECONOMY

The current administration promised a better economy, instead better is not what we are experiencing. We have turned our backs on the middle and working class, farmers, small business owners, and the entire country is now having to pay more due to the unstable economy and tariffs. I will work hard to try and bring stability back to the grocery stores. I will support farmers and small business.

IMMIGRATION

The Declaration of Independence Reads, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” It is imperative that I protect the fundamental basis that this country was founded upon. Immigrants built this country. I will protect and support law abiding immigrants.

EDUCATION

I attended public schools from kindergarten through college, and I value the education that I received. Every child in America deserves the right to have a quality, robust education, that incudes access to the arts and STEM. Our students should have access to have healthy meals, counseling, and tutoring. Education must be a priority if we want our country to lead the world. We must incentivize teaching by providing competitive salaries, loan forgiveness, and tax incentives.

HEALTHCARE

As a medical doctor I have served our country, our soldiers, our veterans, our rural communities, our suburbs, and our cities for 25 years. I have seen patients delay care and refuse care due to lack of affordable care. We can and must do better. I want to make sure our seniors can get their medications without having to worrying about the cost. We must preserve Medicare and Medicaid. I have had the privilege to treat mothers and infants and understand the need to improve women’s health.

GUN REFORM

I support the Second Amendment and our right to bear arms. Guns do not kill people, people kill people. As a registered firearm owner, I support common sense firearm safety, including background checks and buyback programs.

HOMELESSNESS

My father went through a long season of homelessness and the issue is close to my heart. There are multiple issues to those who are unsheltered, and they must be a priority. Housing, mental health services, and recovery program, along with employment training. People who have lost homes, jobs, and healthcare and hope. Too many people are living in their car or on the street. We must find ways to provide help and hope. We must find ways to provide physical and mental help. I will be an advocate for those in need.

HARD WORK

I believe in hard work. I was raised in Compton, by my aunt, a single parent of three, including me.  I understand what it means to struggle. She was a manager and a UFCW union worker. She taught me the value of working hard, keeping my commitments, and leading with kindness. I have had many jobs. My first job was as a babysitter at the age of 12. I have sold newspapers door to door. During medical school I worked the night shift as a waitress at the Waffle House. As a mom and obstetrician and gynecologist I have worked many 24-hour shifts. I am not afraid of long hours and hard work.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is real. There is no denying the effects El Nino/La Nina and Global Warming is having on our environment. We must not put our heads in the sand. We must do better and start with practical steps at reducing global warming and our carbon footprint.

LGBTQ+ PROTECTION

Love is love. No one should be denied human rights, sexual orientation, or identity. I believe in equal rights for all.

VOTING RIGHTS

Every citizen has the right to vote without intimidation or hardship. I oppose voter suppression of all kinds. I support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. As a veteran who loves this country, you can count on me to uphold and defend your Constitutional rights.

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

I believe a woman has the right to choose what happens to her body, just as a man has the right to choose what happens to his body. I have had the privilege of serving as an advisor and board-certified OB-GYN to numerous families for 20+ years, as such, it is imperative that medical decisions be made between the patient and the physician, and not the government. Safe reproductive care is essential for families. Because Roe v. Wade was overturned, and due to Dobbs v. Jackson in 2022, some women are limited in their resources. Every woman should have the right to access family planning resources.
